Some of our wonderful students and parents have written about their experience with Integrity Taekwon-Do. Here are a few:

Charlie started Integrity Taekwon-Do at age four in the after school program. When he was invited to attend the Yarralumla Dojang during school holidays he was hooked. As parents, we were very happy to see a well run martial arts school where training is targeted to both age and skill levels, so we decided to support Charlie to train as often as he wanted to.

Over the next five years Charlie’s enthusiasm for Taekwon-Do grew and his commitment was acknowledged by the Instructors when he was invited to take on a Junior Instructor role. We saw our quiet and introverted son begin to develop genuine leadership skills. The following year at age nine Charlie earned his black belt. Now at age 10 Charlie confidently instructs the primary school aged children and demonstrates techniques in front of the whole Dojang, conducting himself as a leader.

Taekwon-Do as taught by Integrity Taekwon-Do suited Charlie from the beginning because he learnt the techniques in isolation and put them together in simple patterns, the early progress was rewarded often. What we like most about Integrity Taekwon-Do is the way the junior black belts are mentored by the leadership team (of four senior ranked adults). This mentoring has had a genuine positive influence on Charlie’s confidence and his developing leadership skills.

It is my absolute pleasure to give Master Rob Lang my highest recommendation!

Our two boys had previously trained with a different organisation, in fact our eldest had put four years in, and to be honest, knew almost nothing about how to defend himself. After we left there we started looking for an alternative, and will be forever grateful that we found Master Rob and his team at Integrity Taekwon-Do.

Three years later and both our boys are now Black Belts. The level of expertise and the way Master Lang works with all the students is outstanding in my opinion. Our eldest is on the Autism spectrum, and Master Rob’s positive influence has played a vital roll in our son’s development. Taekwon-Do has taught him many valuable lessons, and as a high school student he is now equipped to cope with the pressures of adolescence.

Both our boys have learnt discipline, respect, perseverance, and self control. They have learned how to work towards personal goals at a very young age, and how to own the result if it doesn’t go to plan! On top of all of this they have formed some great friendships and not only enjoy their training but also get to participate in social events outside of the Dojang.

My wife and I could not be happier with the opportunities, skills and lessons that martial arts offer, and can not speak highly enough of Master Rob Lang and his dedicated team.

I would like to express my thanks to the Integrity Taekwon-Do team, and in particular to Rob Lang.

Nic joined the organisation in 2010 to improve his self- esteem and self- discipline. We have been pleasantly surprised to find that Nic has gained much more than this. His school grades improved and his social skills and attitude toward others is much more mature, he is confident and resilient. Now that he has his Junior Black Belt he is assisting Senior Instructors to teach younger children.

I would not hesitate to recommend Integrity Taekwon-Do to anyone, of any age looking for an activity that will increase self-awareness, team skills and self-defence.

Our younger daughter Alicia took up Integrity Taekwon-Do after thoroughly enjoying the school program and wanting to take it a step further. In joining the Yarralumla Dojang, not only did she meet a second family and friends for life, but also has matured and developed qualities that can’t be acquired through schooling alone.

We have seen Alicia’s confidence and maturity development, realising the value of perseverance and taking responsibility for her own tasks. She learned how to apply herself and the value of self-discipline. Alicia has discovered that challenges aren’t necessarily a bad thing – where she was previously discouraged and would tend to want to step down when the going gets tough, she now knows that pushing through during these times can result in the greatest of rewards. With a supportive team and continuous guidance from instructors, Alicia achieved her Junior black belt in November 2018. Soon after, Alicia was appointed as School Captain for 2019 alongside being a junior instructor of Taekwon-Do for a school program. We’re pleased and proud to see how rewarding this endeavour has been for our daughter.

Our elder daughter Emily joined Integrity Taekwon-Do after seeing her sister’s enthusiasm and development from it. Emily attends Taekwon-Do alongside her full-time office job and part-time university study, finding solace in the consistent discipline and training of the martial art. Growing up as an introvert somewhat lacking in self-confidence, learning to physically defend herself has brought forth a quiet self-efficacy and composure that can be applied to all areas of life. Emily has recently achieved her Blue Belt.

To find a Dojang run by such honest and supportive individuals is a rarity and the lessons and values it has taught to our children are invaluable. We absolutely recommend Integrity Taekwon-Do to everyone.
